DO YOU EVER WONDER ABOUT WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF? If what? Well, your choice. Do you ever wonder what would happen if some current action continues? Something you have absolutely no control over. Like, well, that's what this post is about. So, a little back ground. Very little, in fact.
My wife and I recently took a little road trip. The primary purpose of the trip, at least the beginning of the trip, was to make a visit to an out of town Dr. This Dr. lives in a large southeast Arizona city. 3 1/2 hours to drive from our house to his office. From a quiet little villager of 300 homes to this city involves the transition from just a little vehicle traffic to a lot of traffic. After the Dr. was finished with us, and a little shopping, we continued on to Arizona's largest city complex. My description, not necessarily that of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce. Visiting family and doing some shopping there also had us spending a night in one of the cities of the metropolitan area. And included a lot of traffic. More traffic in an hour that our little area will generate in a month or so, I would venture a guess. And it continued 24/7. We could not live there. We would be as insane as a hatter in about 30 days. Literal blubbering idiots. And the noise. And the people. We are the type that gets along with out all the people and especially with out the noise. Peace and quiet works just fine, thank you very much. An occasional distant barking dog, people mowing lawns on a Saturday morning, the clank of a garbage truck, the sounds of someone replacing a roof on their house. These are not sounds that bother. But when you get up with the dawn, and can hear nothing except the silence, or the singing of the birds, that is the things that bring peace to the soul. So, what does all this have to do with the original question ask at the start of this blog. Well, it generated a conversation between my wife and myself as we were driving back home. Where are all these people going? And why in such a hurry. Do they ever stop to look around them? And then we commented, multiply the traffic in these two metro areas, by the number of other large metropolitan areas in the United States, and then the world. Then add in the smaller area's, even the very rural area's. Then consider all the vehicles that are traveling to and fro on the highways and byways, under the earth, on the earth and above the earth. Now, consider all the petroleum that is being removed from inside the earth to create fuel for all these vehicles. And then consider the giant hole that is being left as this fuel is sucked to the surface and transmuted into smog. And then comes the question ask at the start. Do you ever wonder? Will the earth just eventually collapse into itself and leave us all asking; What the heck just happened? And THAT'S THE VIEW FROM THE DITCH BANK.

DID YOU HEAR WHAT I HEARD
DID YOU? I have spent most of the day watching the President being sworn in to serve another 4 years. There was a lot of pomp and circumstance involved. And a lot of information being spouted by the talking heads of the liberal media. Much has been said about the first lady's hair do. I'm not impressed with it, but that's just me. A lot of other people seem to be, and that is fine. She is also being touted, still, ( has been for four years now ) as a fashion icon.Personally, I have seen very little in her fashion that is impressive. I'll take any of the past first ladies fashion over her's any day. Or the Queen of England and Kate, for that matter. Again, my opinion. And it is my post. But that is just a little ranting on my part. So back to the title of the post and what it is about.
During all of this, I watched and listened as the President gave his speech. Did you notice any difference from the one four years ago? My wife and I did. Four years ago it was I. He was constantly saying what "I" would do. It was I this and I that. Apparently he has learned a little something in the last four years. He can't do what he wanted to do alone. In this speech it was "WE". We can do this. We can do that. And I liked a lot of what he said WE can do. I just hope that he and both houses of congress were listening to what he said. Yes, I said I hoped that he was listening to what he said. As well as both houses of congress.
Well, I started this post with red letters. Cause that is where the country's budget is. In the red. We were saved from going over the "fiscal cliff" by raising the debt ceiling. The house didn't want to do that. I agree. Why? Cause it's like this. I have a credit card. I charged enough to reach the limit allowed on the card. So, instead of working on my spending habits, and cutting down somewhere, the card issuer raise's the limit and I go and charge more things to the card. And every time I reach the limit they continue to raise the limit. Somewhere I have to cut my spending habits and pay for the charges on the card. And the more that is on the card, the harder it will be to pay off. And that, my dear readers, if there are any, is where our government is today. And they do need to cut spending. And they need to take a very close look at where the spending is and cut the waste. One item I will mention. Congress approved $60 billion for relief for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Unfortunately, a lot of that money went to pork barrel spending for members of congress that had nothing to do with Sandy. And it is this kind of spending that needs to be stopped. And we as the people need to take a close look at our congress persons and vote those out that can't control what they think they need to spend on behalf of their own reelection chances.

First post of 2013
ARE THEY ALL OSTRICHES? And yes, I am talking about the folks in Washington, D.C. And when I said all, I meant all. From the President down to the Senate and the House. Why do I ask that question. Well, it sure wasn't to denigrate an Ostrich. Rumor has it that an Ostrich has it's head in the sand, thus not being able to see or acknowledge what is going on around them. I have since learned that such is not actually the case, at least for the Ostrich. Not so sure about those in D.C. Again, I say, why do I say that. Well, let me mention a few
(2 ? ) reasons.
1. The budget. This country has been running on an out of control spending spree with no budget for years now. The Senate won't come up with a budget and they won't pass any thing that the house comes up with. It is not a government of the people, by the people for the people. Now they have passed a spending/tax bill to avoid the fiscal cliff. Since we had went over the cliff before that bill was passed, I sure would like to have that kind of power. You know, so when I drive over a cliff, I can reverse it while on the way down. They didn't solve any thing, just added to the problem. Even the talking heads on the liberal media that are all in love with the administration predicts a fight for the near future in the political powers that be. And guess who will be the winner. Won't be us, McGee.
2. Gun Control. I am heart sick and feel very much sorrow for those in Sandy Hook as well as in Colorado and Arizona and, and well, you get the picture. But with all the uproar over gun control, laws will be passed and the only one they will affect will be the honest gun owners. Those with a criminal bent and those with mental problems that are intent on committing a mass murder will continue to do so, and all the laws that Washington can pass won't stop them. I encourage all with in the view of this message to let your congressmen and women know that they need to be responsible when they pass legislation that affects the many millions of responsible and honest citizens of this country and they need to protect the 2nd amendment. Vice president Biden has stated that if they congress don't pass a bill controlling guns, the President will issue an executive order doing that. That, folks, is against the constitution.
3. A final comment. Congress may pass bills to come up with a budget, raise the debt ceiling and raise taxes and control guns, even to the point of making legal gun owners register all guns and they might even put controls on the amount of ammunition you can buy. they might "fix" a lot of things, ( and I said might, with tongue in cheek ) but there is one thing they will never be able to fix. And that is stupid. You just can't fix stupid. And the knee jerk things that they seem to come up with is stupid. And they will never fix the things they could fix, if they were concerned with the people and not their next election. And if they would play partisan politics.
4. The State of New Mexico has a republican governor, ( and she is doing a wonderful job ) and she is working with a democrat controlled legislature, and they get along for the most part. And New Mexico is one of the States that is in the black in their fiscal dealings. In spite of the past governors shady dealings. The feds could come here ( or even New Jersey ) and take a lesson on how to run the country.
